and is a commonly reported problem with other supraglottic intubating devices. The tip of the TotaltrackTM blade is protected by a silicone cover to minimize epiglottic or oropharyngeal injury. The TotaltrackTM does require a minimum inter-incisor distance of at least two cm and the device may be more difficult to insert in the presence of enlarged breasts. In all our study patients, a full view of the glottis could be obtained and adequate ventilation established. Securing the airway, once one is expert, takes approximately 40 s. These findings suggest that the TotaltrackTM is a promising device for airway management and has the potential to become a preferred device in the emergency situation of a difficult direct laryngoscopy, when there is urgency to secure the airwaywith a cuffed tracheal tube. Further evaluation of its efficacy and safety is required. Acknowledgements

متن کاملBeyond the Memory-Trace Paradox and the Fallacy of the Homunculus A Hypothesis Concerning the Relationship Between Memory, Consciousness and Temporality
Most theories and models of memory are based on two assumptions that contain theoretical problems. These problems are reflected in the memory-trace paradox, which consists in believing that the past is contained in the memory trace, and in the fallacy of the homunculus, which consists in assuming the existence of an unconscious intentional subject. We will discuss these and present an alternati...
متن کاملA Model for Associative Memory, a Basis for Thinking and Consciousness
The paper presents a model for associative memory, based on the idea of a roaming random set. It is very robust, at the expense of quite some redundancy. Thinking, consciousness and various features of memory can be interpreted in terms of the memory model. Like in the von Neumann computer the larger part of operational routines can be stored in the same memory
